Senior Commissioning Engineer (I&C) - Offshore, WHT, Subsea & Piping

About the role

Penspen, a global energy services company providing asset integrity, engineering and consultancy services to the oil, gas, hydrogen and energy infrastructure sectors, is recruiting a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Instrumentation & Control) for an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The role covers I&C commissioning for offshore oil and gas projects, including Wellhead Towers, offshore platforms, subsea cable and pipeline developments and brownfield modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Execute I&C commissioning activities and ensure instrumentation, control, automation and integrated control systems are installed, tested, commissioned, validated and handed over safely in line with project specifications, international standards and operational requirements.
• Act as the focal point for I&C commissioning, supporting safe startup, operational readiness and handover to operations.
• Develop commissioning execution plans, procedures, test protocols, schedules and commissioning dossiers, and define system boundaries and handover strategies.
• Review engineering deliverables, control philosophies, instrument datasheets, logic diagrams, loop drawings and system architecture drawings.
• Take part in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL reviews, constructability reviews and operational readiness assessments, and support commissioning systemization and subsystem breakdown structures.
• Commission instrumentation and control systems on Wellhead Towers, verify interfaces between WHTs and central processing facilities, and support offshore hook-up and commissioning campaigns.
• Support subsea control system interface commissioning, develop and execute cutover and migration plans, review Mechanical Completion dossiers and support incident investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven dedicated experience in I&C commissioning.
• Experience commissioning offshore platforms, Wellhead Towers, jackets and topsides, and brownfield facilities preferred.
• PMC/EPC background preferred; previous ADNOC offshore experience is an advantage.
