Senior Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer will lead commissioning activities for oil and gas projects, applying best practices to improve the discipline across the organization. Acting as a mentor, the role supports less‑experienced colleagues and ensures that all commissioning work follows company guidelines and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Commissioning Manager and assist the Principal Commissioning Engineer with home‑office deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing, and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation components on site.
• Develop and maintain manuals, commissioning and start‑up spares lists, first‑fill consumables, and start‑up procedures.
• Perform equipment system checks, functional testing, and performance testing during commissioning and start‑up phases.
• Resolve operational and maintenance issues that arise during testing.
• Supervise craft personnel for pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate activities with other engineers, project teams, and the client to maintain positive relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8‑15 years of oil‑and‑gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, completions, and start‑up concepts.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
