Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Etihad Airways is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its cross‑functional product teams. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting modern data platforms built on Databricks, enabling robust analytics and data‑science capabilities across cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Treat the data platform as a core product, ensuring scalability, reliability, and continuous innovation.
• Collaborate with Architecture to shape the Databricks‑based platform roadmap and integrate services such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Delta Live Tables.
• Document Databricks workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Partner with stakeholders to resolve platform issues and drive process improvements, including automated ingestion with Autoloader and streaming optimization with Structured Streaming.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Terraform‑based infrastructure, adhering to Agile and DevOps practices.
• Provide operational support for Databricks clusters, jobs, and pipelines, including incident analysis and business impact reporting.
• Promote best practices for DataOps and cloud‑native data engineering throughout the organization.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience as a Data/Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Databricks and lakehouse architectures.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex distributed data systems and work independently.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating in Agile environments.
