Senior Director - Process Safety

About the role

The Senior Director of Process Safety is responsible for safeguarding people, assets, reputation, and business continuity at Emirates Global Aluminium. This senior leader drives systematic identification, control, verification, and reporting of major hazard risks to executive management and the board.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide Major Hazard Risk Management Framework.
• Define, implement, and oversee Critical Controls for molten metal handling, potline integrity, high‑voltage systems, gas systems, pressure systems, and confined‑space activities.
• Align governance and control frameworks with international standards such as ICMM Critical Control Management, CCPS Risk‑Based Process Safety, and OSHA PSM principles.
• Lead the shift from lagging safety metrics to Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, creating a robust SIF and High‑Potential Event framework.
• Monitor barrier health, critical‑control effectiveness, and early signs of operational drift.
• Review high‑potential events and systemic weaknesses with senior committees, providing worst‑case analyses and corrective actions.
• Implement an independent verification program for Life‑Saving Rules and Critical Controls.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in process safety and major‑hazard risk management within heavy‑industry environments.
• Proven ability to develop and govern enterprise‑wide safety frameworks and report to executive leadership.
• Deep knowledge of international safety standards and best practices.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills for high‑impact safety decisions.
