Senior Electrical Engineer – MV Switchgear Design & Application

About the role

Vertiv is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and application of medium voltage (MV) switchgear up to 36 kV. The role focuses on delivering compliant, high‑quality engineering solutions while supporting project delivery from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review single‑line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and interlocking logic for AIS/GIS switchgear.
• Perform bus‑bar sizing, short‑circuit withstand calculations and thermal analysis in line with IEC 62271 standards.
• Select, configure and program numerical protection relays (ABB, Siemens, Schneider or equivalents) and develop relay setting calculations.
• Support protection coordination studies using tools such as ETAP or DigSILENT.
• Review customer specifications, produce compliance statements and propose optimized technical solutions.
• Prepare test procedures, support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and provide on‑site technical assistance during commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in MV switchgear design and protection engineering.
• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to engineering accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across functions.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IEC 62271 series and IEC 60255 protection standards.
• Hands‑on experience with numerical relay programming (ABB, Siemens, Schneider).
• Proficiency in protection coordination studies (ETAP, DigSILENT).
• Competence in AutoCAD or EPLAN for electrical drafting.
• Experience with bus‑bar sizing, short‑circuit and thermal calculations.
