Senior Engineer – Substation Control & Monitoring System (SCMS)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to lead the design, documentation and delivery of Substation Control & Monitoring Systems (SCMS) for EPC projects in Abu Dhabi. The role combines engineering design, coordination with clients and vendors, and on‑site support during testing and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare automation and control system designs, drawings, signal lists, calculations and BOQs in line with client specifications.
• Coordinate technical submittals, approvals and clarifications with clients, consultants, vendors and subcontractors.
• Review and verify vendor and subcontractor documentation, including SCADA, PLC, RTU and switchgear drawings.
• Support site activities such as supervision, inspections, FAT, QA/QC, HSE coordination and commissioning.
• Produce red‑line mark‑ups, as‑built drawings and final documentation for hand‑over.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Automation or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in automation, control, SCADA or substation control systems within EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of IEC standards, utility requirements and EPC execution processes.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• SCADA, RTU and PLC systems.
• Substation control system design and integration.
• Preparation of signal lists, control schematics, design calculations and BOQs.
• Review of technical submittals for compliance with client specifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office and document control platforms such as Aconex/EDMS.
