Senior HSE Engineer

About the role

KN International is looking for an experienced Senior HSE Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) activities on a major project in Abu Dhabi. You will translate regulations into practical on‑site actions, manage risk, and foster a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the project complies with the HSE Management System, company policies, ISO standards and client requirements.
• Review and approve contractor HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements and emergency procedures before work starts.
• Conduct daily and weekly site inspections, identify hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Provide direction to HSE contractors and monitor their performance.
• Deliver induction, toolbox talks and specialised safety training.
• Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions, and implement root‑cause corrective actions.
• Develop, test and evaluate emergency response plans and organise drills.
• Prepare monthly HSE performance reports and communicate findings to clients and project management.
• Identify improvement opportunities and support initiatives that strengthen the safety culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HSE Engineer on large construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of local UAE HSE regulations and international ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, contractors and internal teams.
