Senior Manager – Health & Safety

About the role

The Senior Manager – Health & Safety leads the Group’s occupational health and safety strategy, governance and performance across all operating companies. This is a stewardship role focused on setting standards, overseeing compliance and driving a proactive safety culture rather than day‑to‑day site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the Group H&S strategy, policies, standards and minimum requirements aligned with ISO 45001, local regulations and the Group’s risk appetite.
• Establish clear H&S roles, responsibilities and accountabilities between the Group and OpCos, supported by a robust governance and assurance framework.
• Monitor OpCo H&S performance through audits, assessments, KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, dashboards and regular reporting.
• Identify systemic H&S risks and trends, support OpCos in addressing high‑risk issues and provide briefings to senior management and the Board.
• Lead critical risk management processes, incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis and the implementation of systemic corrective actions.
• Drive H&S capability and safety culture through leadership engagement, training frameworks, best‑practice sharing and integration of safety into business decisions.
• Collaborate with Risk, ESG/Sustainability, HR, Legal, Operations, auditors, regulators and external partners, contributing to ESG and enterprise risk disclosures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading health and safety functions at a Group or multi‑site level.
• Strong understanding of ISO 45001, local H&S regulations and international best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement governance frameworks, audit programmes and performance measurement systems.
• Excellent analytical skills to identify trends, assess risks and present findings to senior leadership.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills across senior leadership, operational teams and external bodies.
