Senior Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear Components

About the role

A client is seeking a highly certified Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis and oversight of mechanical systems and components for the nuclear and power generation industries. The role ensures the integrity, reliability and safety of projects, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver engineered solutions that meet rigorous quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems such as pressure vessels, piping, pumps, valves and support structures using 3D CAD software.
• Perform and review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, thermal, seismic and fatigue assessments.
• Develop and review technical specifications, calculation packages and design documentation for compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1 and other nuclear standards.
• Provide technical direction and oversight during fabrication, installation and testing to ensure adherence to design intent.
• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues.
• Interface with clients, vendors and regulatory personnel to present design bases and justify engineering decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree or PE license is a strong asset.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably in nuclear, power plant or heavy manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of materials science, fluid mechanics and heat transfer as applied to industrial systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Required skills

• 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor.
• Advanced FEA software such as ANSYS or Abaqus.
