Senior Mechatronics Engineer - Automation & Robotics

About the role

A team is looking for a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to design and deploy advanced automated and robotic systems for use in high-consequence environments. The role suits someone who works well at the intersection of mechanical, electrical and software disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional projects integrating mechanical systems, electronic controls, sensors and software.
• Design and model robotic cells, automated workstations and special process equipment using 3D simulation tools.
• Develop motion control systems, select actuators and drives, and specify sensor technologies.
• Write, test and debug high-level control software in C++, Python or MATLAB for machine automation.
• Run system validation and verification tests to meet performance and reliability metrics.
• Create documentation such as system manuals, operational procedures and maintenance guides.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; an advanced degree is an asset.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing and commissioning automated or robotic systems.

Required skills

• Expert-level CAD (e.g. SolidWorks) and simulation software.
• Embedded systems and industrial automation programming (C++, Python, ROS, Ladder Logic).
• Experience with vision systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and feedback control theory.
