Senior Quality Inspector – Coating & Insulation

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to oversee coating and insulation activities at its Mussafah yard in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures that all painting, coating and surface‑preparation work meets the required standards, safety regulations and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Verify weather conditions are suitable for coating operations in line with applicable standards.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturers’ instructions, MSDS and material traceability requirements.
• Monitor contractor performance, confirm applicators hold valid certifications and that equipment is serviceable and calibrated.
• Protect weld areas, flanges and instruments before blasting and oversee proper surface‑preparation blast profiles.
• Record surface cleanliness and profile at critical stages: before preparation, after preparation, before coating and between coats.
• Control wet film thickness and application technique throughout the coating process.
• Maintain inspection and test equipment in serviceable condition and ensure personnel are trained in its use.

Required profile

• Minimum 84 months (7 years) of experience in quality inspection for coating, painting or insulation projects.
• Strong knowledge of relevant standards, MSDS handling and material traceability.
• Ability to assess contractor competence and certify processes.
• Familiarity with surface‑preparation techniques and coating application monitoring.
