Senior RCS Engineer

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is looking for a skilled and motivated Electromagnetic Engineer (Senior RCS Engineer) in Abu Dhabi. The engineer matures the design and development of absorber materials, works with airframe designers and production engineering to integrate absorbers without compromising surrounding areas, and tests and refines solutions. The role needs a strong theoretical background in electromagnetism and practical experience in design and analysis with specialized software.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize low-observable (LO) features for platforms, including shaping, material selection and internal component arrangement.
• Perform detailed radar cross-section (RCS) analysis using computational electromagnetics (CEM) tools such as CST Microwave Studio and in-house software.
• Work with the Aerodynamic and Structures teams on iterative sizing of stealth shaping, including CFD analysis, stability and control checks, and finite element analysis, then refine the solution until stealth performance and its impact on aerodynamics and structure are balanced.
• Develop and validate physics-based models for predicting and mitigating signatures, and run trade studies on performance, cost and weight.
• Support planning and execution of compact range, anechoic chamber, open-air range and flight trials, analyze test data against computational models, and help integrate stealth materials and components.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, aerodynamic, stability and control, production and logistics engineers and program managers, stay up to date on stealth technology and contribute to new stealth concepts and IP.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Aerospace, Physics or a related field; a Ph.D. is highly preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in an EM engineering role, preferably radar LO/stealth with a focus on RCS reduction.
• English proficiency is required.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of electromagnetic principles, RF propagation and antenna theory.
• Proficiency with CEM software such as CST, FEKO or HFSS.
• Scientific programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with lab equipment such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
• Analytical, problem-solving, teamwork and attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with stealth materials, including radar-absorbent materials (RAM).
• Knowledge of RF measurement techniques and equipment.
