Senior Space Engineering Specialist

About the role

elseco is seeking a Senior Space Engineering Specialist to join its growing Space team in Dubai. The role combines technical analysis of satellite payloads with underwriting and claims expertise to support the company’s specialised space insurance portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse platform and payload specifications for new and renewal insurance placements, focusing on communication and observation payloads.
• Develop and maintain elseco’s proprietary space technical database, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Use internal and third‑party data to build models and statistics on space risks.
• Perform sensitivity testing and loss‑criteria analysis for space insurance policies.
• Support the Claims Manager by evaluating technical failure aspects and calculating claim amounts.
• Attend technical briefings and market meetings, draft technical questions and prepare concise summaries.
• Issue quotes in line with delegated authority rules and internal processes.
• Capture and analyse risk data in the ATOM platform and maintain broker and client relationships.

Required profile

• Minimum 96 months (8 years) of experience in space engineering, payload analysis or related insurance underwriting.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain technical databases.
• Experience modelling space risk and performing sensitivity analyses.
• Strong analytical skills to support claims investigations.
• Willingness to represent elseco at industry events and collaborate across departments.
