Senior Structural Design Engineer

About the role

GHD is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi office. The role involves leading the design of building and infrastructure structures, ensuring compliance with local regulations and delivering innovative, cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop structural systems for building projects, adhering to local authority requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, MEP and utility teams to integrate multidisciplinary solutions.
• Review and validate engineering designs, maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and BIM technicians, overseeing their work throughout project delivery.
• Implement quality assurance and control procedures during all project phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in structural design of buildings, reinforced concrete and steelwork.
• Professional engineering license or equivalent certification is desirable.
• Proven experience delivering water‑retaining, building or related infrastructure projects.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS and STAAD.Pro.
• Strong CAD and BIM modelling capabilities.
• Experience working in a 3‑D design environment and following BIM protocols.
