Senior Technician – DC Automation

About the role

The Senior Technician – DC Automation will lead advanced maintenance and troubleshooting of our distribution centre automation assets. You will ensure high availability of AS/RS, conveyor, sorter, PLC and robotic pick‑pack systems while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment such as AS/RS, conveyors, sorters, PLCs and robotic pick/pack stations.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical and control issues; coordinate with OEMs or engineering teams when required.
• Calibrate and test sensors, drives, motors and actuators to guarantee optimal performance.
• Act as escalation point for critical automation failures, providing rapid resolution to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with operations and IT to resolve WMS/WCS interface faults and support equipment shutdown planning.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, electrical and automation safety standards; conduct audits and risk assessments.
• Lead root‑cause analysis, propose design improvements and oversee implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed logs in the CMMS and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience maintaining warehouse automation or industrial equipment.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Automation.
• Familiarity with WMS‑integrated automation and HMI interfaces.
• Strong IT literacy for diagnostics and maintenance tracking.
