Senior Visceral Surgery Specialist – Government Healthcare

About the role

A prestigious government healthcare facility in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced Senior Specialist/Consultant in Visceral Surgery. The role offers the chance to deliver high‑quality surgical care to a diverse patient population within a well‑established public health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat and follow‑up patients requiring visceral and abdominal surgical care.
• Perform elective and emergency visceral surgical procedures, including complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, colorectal and abdominal cases.
• Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments and develop appropriate surgical treatment plans.
• Provide post‑operative management, monitor for complications and ensure accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in surgical rounds, case discussions, multidisciplinary meetings and clinical audits.
• Supervise, teach and mentor junior doctors and surgical trainees.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in General Surgery, Visceral Surgery or a related specialty.
• Significant post‑specialty clinical experience in visceral/abdominal surgery.
• Internationally recognised qualifications (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, Australian Board, South African Board).
• Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making and communication skills.
