Shift Technician – Electrical Maintenance

About the role

The Shift Technician is responsible for the electrical upkeep of a busy hotel, ensuring guest areas, back‑of‑house facilities and engineering systems run smoothly during assigned shifts. You will work closely with the Duty Engineer and other hotel departments to minimise disruption and maintain safety.

Key responsibilities

• Report shift activities, issues, work orders and equipment status to the Duty Engineer.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting, corrective repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance on distribution, lighting, power, controls, sockets, switches, dimmers, LV systems, motors and pumps.
• Inspect and maintain panels, DBs, MCCs, isolators, breakers, contactors, relays and emergency lighting.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, schematics and equipment manuals.
• Carry out safe electrical isolation and reinstatement following hotel procedures and safety permits.
• Support BMS, GRMS, lighting controls, access/control interfaces and other low‑voltage building systems.
• Undertake basic general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, HVAC/FCU checks, carpentry, painting and minor repairs.
• Attend emergency breakdowns, alarms and incidents, making the area safe and escalating specialist work when required.
• Coordinate with Security, Housekeeping, Front Office and other teams to minimise guest impact.

• Ability to work shift patterns and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
• Strong focus on safety, housekeeping and guest privacy.
• Effective communication with guests and hotel staff.

• Electrical distribution, lighting, power and control systems.
• LV systems, motors, pumps, and associated equipment.
• Electrical panels, DBs, MCCs, isolators, breakers, contactors, relays, emergency lighting.
• Reading electrical drawings, schematics and single‑line diagrams.
• BMS, GRMS, lighting controls and low‑voltage building systems.
• Basic plumbing, HVAC/FCU checks, carpentry, painting, silicone/grouting.
