Special Inspector - Passive Fire Protection

About the role

Butler Engineering, a specialist fire and life‑safety consultancy, is looking for experienced Special Inspectors to join its UAE and KSA teams. The role focuses on on‑site inspection and verification of passive fire‑protection systems, ensuring full compliance with approved designs, tested products, and authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of firestopping, façade perimeter fire containment, fireproofing, fire doors and other passive fire‑protection systems.
• Verify installations against approved drawings, specifications, tested/listed systems and manufacturer guidelines.
• Identify non‑compliances, installation deficiencies and deviations, and document them with clear, technically defensible reports.
• Review drawings, material submittals, method statements and related technical documentation.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, specialist installers and project teams to close observation items.
• Support testing, commissioning, authority inspections and project close‑out activities as required.
• Perform inspections in line with Butler Engineering’s ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation and internal procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Architectural engineering.
• Demonstrated on‑site experience inspecting passive fire‑protection systems.
• Good understanding of UAE Fire Life Safety Code, IBC, NFPA and related standards.
