Specialist, Cost Estimation

About the role

The Specialist, Cost Estimation will support project cost forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis for oil and gas projects from concept through design to delivery. The role focuses on developing best‑practice cost estimation methods, benchmarking, and identifying cost‑reduction opportunities while ensuring alignment with HSE and energy‑efficiency goals.

Key responsibilities

• Review project proposals (CAPEX, OPEX, revenue) to ensure technical robustness, profitability and compliance with HSE and energy‑efficiency standards.
• Analyse Feasibility, Pre‑FEED and FEED studies, provide comments and support gate‑review decisions.
• Coordinate with project teams to evaluate proposals and present them to the Investment Committee for endorsement.
• Participate in special studies and task forces for gas projects, including performance, integrity, inspections and audits.
• Support cost estimation throughout the project lifecycle – from FEED to close‑out – covering economics, contracting strategy, consultant selection, post‑completion analysis and lessons learned.
• Ensure adherence to the Project Value Assurance Process (VAP) and contribute to cost‑targeting and benchmarking activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 9 years of experience in cost control and cost estimation for large oil‑and‑gas projects.
• Relevant certifications such as ACE or equivalent in cost estimation and control.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of oil‑and‑gas codes, standards and budgeting principles.
