Specialist, Economic Model

About the role

The Specialist, Economic Model is responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing economic and linear‑programming models that support the production optimisation function at ADNOC’s refinery. The role ensures models reflect current plant operating conditions, provides timely economic evaluations of feedstock and product trades, and highlights margin improvement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and keep fit‑for‑purpose economic and LP models, incorporating all operating constraints and pricing data.
• Perform economic evaluations for crude, condensate, feedstock purchases and product/intermediate sales to support procurement and commercial decisions.
• Generate daily, weekly and monthly margin reports, conduct retro‑analysis of plan versus actual performance, and identify sub‑optimal operations.
• Coordinate with refinery teams to obtain actual yield patterns, material balances and process constraints for model updates.
• Support profit‑improvement plans, scenario analysis for shutdowns or process limitations, and present findings to refinery management.
• Maintain auditable records of all economic evaluations and update the database of decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in economic model building and interpretation, preferably within oil, gas or petrochemical plants.
• Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and present analytical results.
