Specialist General Surgeon (PL)

About the role

The Specialist General Surgeon (PL) will deliver comprehensive surgical care to in‑patients, day‑case and out‑patient populations within a leading Abu Dhabi hospital. The role involves performing a full range of general surgical procedures, managing pre‑ and post‑operative patient pathways, and contributing to clinical quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform surgical operations and procedures appropriate to general surgery practice.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessments and post‑operative follow‑up for patients.
• Prescribe and administer medication, therapy, and specialized medical care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including coding, discharge summaries, and referral letters.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care.
• Participate in clinical meetings, in‑service education, and mandatory training (CPR, health & safety, fire safety).
• Support the development and planning of surgical services and quality standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration to practice in the United Arab Emirates.
• Experience in general surgery with a focus on either upper or lower gastrointestinal practice.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and annual recertification.
• Ability to work safely, adhere to occupational health and safety policies, and respond to emergencies.

Required skills

• Clinical coding proficiency.
• CPR certification.
