Specialist Stroke Medicine – Government Hospital (Western Qualified)

About the role

A leading government hospital in Dubai is seeking a Board‑Certified Specialist in Stroke Medicine to deliver evidence‑based care for acute stroke, TIA and other cerebrovascular disorders. The role involves rapid assessment, diagnosis, treatment and long‑term management within a multidisciplinary stroke team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke and TIA patients.
• Lead rapid evaluation, including eligibility for intravenous thrombolysis and coordination of mechanical thrombectomy.
• Interpret neuroimaging (CT, CTA, MRI, vascular studies) to guide clinical decisions.
• Develop individualized secondary prevention plans and manage stroke‑related complications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, discharge planning and on‑call stroke service.
• Contribute to stroke pathway development, quality improvement and accreditation initiatives.

Required profile

• South African Board certification in Stroke Medicine (or equivalent Western qualification).
• Extensive experience in acute stroke care and secondary prevention.
• Ability to work collaboratively with neurologists, emergency physicians, intensivists, neurosurgeons, radiologists and rehabilitation teams.
• Commitment to teaching, CME activities and staff training.

Required skills

• Interpretation of CT, CTA, MRI and vascular imaging.
• Administration of intravenous thrombolysis.
• Coordination of mechanical thrombectomy referrals.
• Use of electronic medical record systems.
