Staff Nurse – Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)

About the role

The Staff Nurse will provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) located on Tower B4. The role involves coordinating nursing activities, educating patients and families, and ensuring safe transitions of care while upholding the mission and values of SSMC.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse comprehensive assessment data (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, spiritual) to identify patient diagnoses and issues.
• Develop and document individualized, culturally appropriate care plans with measurable outcomes, involving patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Implement evidence‑based interventions, perform treatments and procedures, and administer medications according to hospital policies.
• Continuously evaluate patient response, modify care plans as needed, and ensure accurate documentation in the health record.
• Communicate relevant information across all levels of care, promote health education, and support cost‑effective resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the UAE.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in an intensive care setting.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, professional ethics and the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, families and the healthcare team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in evidence‑based nursing assessment techniques.
• Ability to administer medications and perform ICU procedures safely.
• Competence in documenting care using standardized terminology.
