Staff Nurse – Day Surgery Unit (DSU)

About the role

The Staff Nurse in the Day Surgery Unit (DSU) is responsible for coordinating nursing care, delivering direct patient care, providing education to patients and families, and ensuring smooth transitions of care. The role supports professional nursing practice across the care continuum while upholding SSMC’s mission, vision, and values.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse comprehensive assessment data (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, spiritual) to determine patient diagnoses and issues.
• Develop culturally appropriate, individualized care plans in partnership with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implement evidence‑based interventions, perform treatments and procedures, and administer medications according to organizational policies.
• Document all aspects of the care plan, including modifications, using standardized terminology.
• Communicate relevant information across all levels of care and ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Qualified nursing professional registered with the appropriate Abu Dhabi/UAE nursing authority.
• Commitment to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across diverse needs.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
