Staff Nurse - Operating Room

About the role

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is hiring a full-time Staff Nurse for its Operating Room in Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care and adhering to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), interpret findings, prioritize risks and document data.
• Identify expected outcomes, develop an individualized plan of care with the patient, family and team, modify it as needed and document measurable goals.
• Implement the plan of care with evidence-based interventions, perform treatments and procedures according to protocols, administer medications per policy and communicate across care levels.
• Teach patients and families using strategies suited to their condition, seek feedback such as teach-back, and document health education.
• Evaluate progress toward outcomes, revise the plan of care, give clinical handovers, attend care rounds and update the attending provider.
• Integrate evidence and research into practice, share findings, join performance improvement projects and supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses.
• Act as a professional role model, advocate for patients, speak up on safety and quality, and respond to emergencies per organizational policy.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting.
• Experience requirement waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges or universities after completion.
