Staff Software Engineer – New Markets Middle East (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead Alpaca’s expansion into the Middle East, focusing on the UAE and Saudi markets. This remote, high‑impact role will shape the next generation of trading and brokerage infrastructure for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend systems, market‑connectivity solutions, and event‑driven architectures for critical financial workflows.
• Collaborate with trading, infrastructure, and product teams to design and implement robust solutions.
• Drive technical decision‑making and define the long‑term engineering direction for Alpaca Middle East.
• Lead complex technical initiatives and mentor engineering teams.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering and distributed systems experience.
• Proven experience building trading, brokerage, fintech, or capital‑markets systems.
• Deep understanding of scalable architectures, APIs, and event‑driven systems.
• Hands‑on ability to lead complex technical projects.

Required skills

• Go, Java, C++, or Python.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes.
