Structural Designer

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Structural Designer to join the Design & Engineering Department of Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory in Abu Dhabi. The role involves preparing and coordinating structural design deliverables for marine, offshore and oil‑&‑gas fabrication projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare structural design drawings, including general arrangement, fabrication, shop drawings and assembly details.
• Develop 2D and 3D structural models using AutoCAD, Tekla Structures or equivalent software.
• Prepare design requests, input documents and change notes for in‑house and subcontracted design activities.
• Review internal, subcontractor and client design documents before approval and construction release.
• Coordinate with engineering, piping, E&I and production teams to ensure constructability and design integration.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.
• Prepare material take‑offs to support procurement and fabrication.
• Participate in clash checks and resolve interdisciplinary design conflicts.
• Maintain design documentation control sheets and manage document records.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, classification societies, vendors and third‑party agencies on design matters.
• Support fabrication and site teams by resolving technical and drawing‑related issues.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in structural design for marine, oil & gas, fabrication or EPC projects.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Tekla Structures.
• Experience with 3D modeling software.
