System Software/Platform Engineer

About the role

The Technology Innovation Institute’s Robotics Research Center is looking for a System Software/Platform Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high‑performance system‑level frameworks. You will work with modern C++ and container technologies to deliver reliable, production‑ready software components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core libraries and frameworks in modern C++ (C++17/20/23) following best‑practice design patterns.
• Design APIs and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate system components.
• Create and manage containerised environments using Docker and orchestrate deployments with tools such as Kubernetes or Nomad.
• Automate configuration, scaling and provisioning with Ansible or equivalent automation frameworks.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) ensuring automated builds, testing and releases.
• Define unit, integration and regression testing strategies using Google Test, Catch2 and static analysis tools.
• Stay current with advances in C++ standards, software engineering practices and deployment technologies.

Required profile

• Strong background in modern C++ development, including STL, templates, concurrency and memory management.
• Experience building large‑scale, distributed software systems.
• Proficiency with containerisation (Docker) and automation tools (Ansible).
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD platforms and test‑driven development.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a research‑driven, fast‑paced environment.
