Technical Product Owner - API Specialist

About the role

Emirates is seeking a Technical Product Owner with deep API expertise to join its Technical Product Management team. The role will drive the API Hub operating model, bridging strategy and execution for B2B and B2C digital products across airline and airport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own and prioritize backlogs for multiple engineering teams, covering features, functional and non‑functional requirements, BAU, technical debt and spikes.
• Act as the voice of the customer, partnering with business stakeholders to guide product lifecycles from concept to operation.
• Coordinate with the API Technical Manager to shape the API Hub roadmap, manage cross‑team dependencies and ensure consistent delivery.
• Ensure API initiatives are technically sound, aligned with enterprise standards and deliver measurable business value.

Required profile

• Minimum 60 months (5 years) of experience in API product ownership or related technical product roles.
• Proven ability to work with multiple product engineering teams and drive backlog management.
• Strong communication skills to represent customer needs and collaborate with business counterparts.

Required skills

• API‑first design, API catalogues, Kong API Gateway, API Security by Design principles.
• Event‑driven patterns, API‑as‑a‑Product concepts, Developer Portals, Async APIs.
• CI/CD automation, GitLab CI, OpenAPI, Artifactory, REST.
• Containerisation with Docker, infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible, artifact management with Nexus.
