Theater Technical Specialist – Lighting

About the role

NYUAD Institute is seeking a Theater Technical Specialist – Lighting to support productions at its Performing Arts Center. The role reports to the Lighting Supervisor and provides technical expertise across lighting, sound, video and stage systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, operate, focus, program and de‑rig lighting equipment for dance, theatre and music productions.
• Assist with sound, video and stage equipment setup and operation.
• Supervise facility changeovers and support visiting companies, rental clients and third‑party vendors.
• Maintain all technical equipment through preventative maintenance, inventories and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and keep work areas tidy and compliant.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with large‑scale technical theatre systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site diagrams.
• Capability to work at heights of 90 ft and lift over 50 lb.
• Fluent spoken English and strong organizational skills.
