Track and Alignment Lead – Railway Infrastructure

About the role

Parsons is looking for a senior Track and Alignment Lead to drive the planning, design review and delivery of railway alignment solutions for an express railway system in the United Arab Emirates. The role will oversee horizontal and vertical alignment development, corridor optimisation and multidisciplinary coordination throughout all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, review and development of railway alignments across all project stages.
• Develop and review horizontal and vertical alignment designs, geometric layouts and corridor strategies.
• Ensure designs are optimised for safety, performance, constructability and whole‑life asset considerations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with civil, structures, geotechnical, drainage, track, systems, stations, depots, environmental and utility disciplines.
• Support systems engineering activities including requirements management, interface management and design traceability.
• Review tender documentation and contractor submissions related to alignment and corridor design.
• Identify and manage technical, operational, environmental and constructability risks.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with railway standards and client specifications.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree (Civil, Transportation or Railway Engineering) and professional engineering membership preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the AECO industry, including at least 10 years in railway alignment design for major projects.
• Extensive experience in corridor planning, geometric design and alignment optimisation for passenger and freight rail systems.
• Strong understanding of international railway standards and best practices.
• Proven ability to coordinate large‑scale multidisciplinary design teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with alignment design software such as OpenRail, Civil 3D or Bentley Rail Track.
• Knowledge of railway design standards, track geometry and operational requirements.
