Academic Department Coordinator

About the role

The Academic Department Coordinator works closely with the Department Chair and Academic Operations Manager to implement strategic initiatives and improve operational efficiency. This full‑time, remote position supports the department’s mission of academic excellence for researchers, students, and faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with faculty, researchers, students, industry partners and university units to align initiatives and foster collaboration.
• Oversee daily departmental operations, including budgeting, space and resource allocation.
• Plan, lead and evaluate academic and social events, workshops and outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate records of departmental activities and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
• Provide guidance to administrative officers on procurement, travel, reimbursements and conflict resolution.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Event Management or related field, or 4‑5 years relevant administrative experience in higher education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer‑service orientation.
• Must reside in Abu Dhabi (or be willing to relocate).
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with database management.
