Accounting Manager

About the role

The Finance department at American University in Dubai is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the institution’s financial bookkeeping. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role will manage accounts payable, vendor reconciliation, and fixed‑asset control. The position starts immediately and is based on the Dubai campus.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the accounts payable function and review purchase requisitions for compliance with university purchasing policies.
• Prepare vendor checks for signature by the President and Vice President.
• Reconcile vendor statements and monthly bank statements on a timely basis.
• Control and reconcile the petty cash fund and maintain the Fixed Assets Register.
• Record all financial transactions using Great Plains Dynamics software.
• Analyze and process student refunds.
• Assume miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Accounting degree from an accredited Western institution.
• Proven accounting experience.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Excellent organizational, detail‑oriented and analytical abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
