Accounts Payable Accountant

About the role

A company in Sharjah is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to strengthen its finance team. The role covers supplier payments, invoice processing, account reconciliations and financial record management, while supporting monthly closing and ensuring compliance with internal controls and UAE VAT regulations. The position is full time, with an estimated salary of AED 7,000 to AED 10,000 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and payments accurately within established deadlines.
• Review and verify Local Purchase Orders, Goods Received Notes, invoices, quotations and supporting documents.
• Manage international supplier payments through Letters of Credit and Telegraphic Transfers.
• Reconcile supplier statements and monitor outstanding vendor balances.
• Manage petty cash, employee expense claims and related financial documentation.
• Perform bank, supplier, intercompany and cash sales reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries, payment vouchers, debit and credit notes and financial reports.
• Support monthly closing, cash flow forecasting and audit preparation.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records and ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards and UAE VAT regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• At least 7 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in the UAE in accounts payable or a similar role.
• Proven experience in invoice processing, supplier payments, vendor management and account reconciliations.
• Numerical accuracy, problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions, meet deadlines and keep accurate financial records.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of UAE VAT regulations and financial accounting principles.
• Bank reconciliations, journal entries and financial reporting.
