Advanced Aerodynamics & Propulsion Engineer II

About the role

EDGE is looking for an Engineer – Advanced Aerodynamics & Propulsion to lead the aerodynamic, thermodynamic and architectural development of next‑generation propulsion systems. The role covers compressible‑flow modelling, conceptual engine‑cycle design and performance assessment for high‑speed and novel engine concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate new propulsion concepts using physics‑based modelling, lead preliminary cycle analyses and trade studies, and generate conceptual engine layouts and flow‑path definitions.
• Model and simulate internal and external aerodynamics across compressible‑flow regimes, analyse shocks, expansions, shock‑boundary‑layer interactions and evaluate intakes, nozzles and cooling systems.
• Support engine test campaigns and component experiments, integrate empirical data to refine models and quantify uncertainty.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on aerodynamics or propulsion.
• 7+ years of experience in aerospace or advanced propulsion systems.
• Strong foundation in compressible‑flow theory and propulsion system concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with Python for modelling, simulation automation and data processing.
• Experience with AMESIM, AxStream or Siemens Studio is preferred.
• Knowledge of multidisciplinary optimisation, CFD and CAD for geometry preparation and detailed modelling.
