Agro‑Economics Expert

About the role

Al Nahiya Group is seeking an Agro‑Economics Expert to lead the technical development of a regional agriculture blueprint. You will shape production systems, value‑chain strategies, infrastructure priorities and policy reforms to support sustainable, climate‑resilient agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Define the planning framework, set objectives, horizons, scenarios and decision criteria.
• Conduct supply‑demand and food‑balance analysis, identify strategic commodities and vulnerabilities.
• Develop production system pathways for open‑field, protected agriculture, livestock and aquaculture while accounting for resource constraints.
• Build agro‑economic models for priority value chains, assess unit economics, productivity gaps and market competitiveness.
• Identify and prioritize investment needs across extension services, inputs, mechanisation, post‑harvest, processing and cold‑chain.
• Integrate water, energy, land suitability and climate risk inputs with spatial planning, zoning and infrastructure corridors.
• Translate the plan into a sequenced implementation programme, defining policy changes, institutional capacity and capital project pipelines.
• Benchmark against global programmes and establish design principles for sustainable, climate‑resilient agriculture.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in agriculture master planning, agro‑economics, food‑systems strategy or sector investment programmes.
• Proven expertise in value‑chain economics and government planning processes.
• Regional experience preferred with ability to work within local market structures and public‑sector constraints.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy or Public Policy; advanced degree strongly preferred.
