Assistant Director of Engineering

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to support the Director in overseeing the maintenance and operation of the hotel’s physical plant. The role combines leadership, technical oversight, and compliance with corporate policies to ensure a safe, sustainable, and high‑quality guest environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in managing repair, maintenance, and preventive programmes for all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building systems.
• Conduct regular inspections, house tours and audits to verify compliance with safety, sustainability and local authority standards.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to schedule and complete repairs, renovations and energy‑saving initiatives.
• Monitor utility consumption, maintain equipment history cards, and prepare reports on maintenance performance and budget adherence.
• Act as department head in the Director’s absence, handling emergencies, work orders via HOTSOS and ensuring timely response to guest and management requests.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of corporate policies, safety regulations and sustainable engineering practices.
• Proven ability to lead a technical team, enforce discipline, and support learning and development activities.
• Excellent communication skills to act as hotel ambassador and liaise between management and engineering staff.
