Assistant Engineering Manager

About the role

The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the engineering team at a luxury hotel in Dubai, overseeing maintenance, safety checks, and guest repair requests. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervisory responsibilities to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment, including calibration of gauges and meters.
• Conduct life‑safety checks such as fire‑pump and generator run tests and inspect fire‑sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Manage inventory, order parts, and maintain purchase order logs.
• Operate power lifts and locate/operate shut‑off valves as needed.
• Assist in developing disaster‑response protocols and respond to guest repair requests.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching engineering staff.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering or maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to follow safety and security policies and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Calibration of controls, gauges and meters.
• Operation of power lifts and shut‑off valves.
• Conducting fire‑pump and generator run tests.
• Inspection of fire‑sprinkler and alarm systems.
• Use of computer systems for inventory and work order management.
