Assistant Housekeeping Manager

About the role

As an Assistant Housekeeping Manager you will lead the housekeeping team to achieve departmental goals, ensuring that cleanliness and maintenance standards are consistently met. You will work closely with the Housekeeping Manager and other hotel departments to deliver a high‑quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare duty rosters for coordinators and supervisors, adjusting as needed.
• Coordinate room availability with the Front Office/Service Manager.
• Review and recommend more effective cleaning methods, materials, and agents.
• Conduct daily and random inspections of hotel property and housekeeping areas, following up on any issues.
• Maintain furnishings, facilities and equipment in optimal condition and arrange repairs when required.
• Schedule and supervise rotational and special cleaning programmes.
• Ensure VIP guests receive appropriate treatment by checking arrival, conference and VIP lists.
• Deliver departmental induction for new trainees and housekeeping staff.
• Assist the Housekeeping Manager with day‑to‑day staffing, planning and assignment.
• Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to improve performance and resolve conflicts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or related certification; a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management is a plus.
• Minimum three years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Flexible, hands‑on attitude with a focus on safety and sanitation regulations.
