Assistant Manager – Internal Audit Assurance (Development & Value Creation)

About the role

Masdar is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead internal audit engagements focused on development and value creation. The role ensures internal controls are effective, risks are mitigated, and regulatory compliance is maintained across the investment life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical audits covering strategy, business development, M&A, project delivery and asset management from planning through reporting.
• Supervise audit teams, ensure quality of work, and meet timelines while providing on‑the‑job training and feedback.
• Submit audit deliverables for quality review and liaise with quality reviewers to guarantee compliance.
• Develop and monitor annual operational plans, KPIs and risk registers, participating in the enterprise risk assessment process.
• Maintain client (auditee) relationships, achieve high audit‑satisfaction scores and implement improvement action plans.
• Oversee external audit service providers, evaluate performance and ensure service‑level agreements are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Engineering.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in internal audit, business development or M&A transaction reviews, including financial modelling.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA or CFE are an asset.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of internal audit standards (IIA) and accounting principles.
• Expertise in risk assessment, risk register maintenance and internal control evaluation.
• Proficiency in financial modelling and analysis of business development/M&A transactions.
• Ability to apply audit methodologies across multi‑functional teams and complex projects.
