Assistant Manager – Logistics

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Logistics will support the Logistics Manager in planning, coordinating and executing all logistics activities for substation projects across the Middle East. The role ensures the timely, safe and cost‑effective transport of transformers, GIS equipment, switchgear and other electrical materials from suppliers to construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement logistics strategies for substation projects, aligning deliveries with construction schedules.
• Plan and coordinate transportation of oversized electrical equipment, both locally and internationally.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, transport contractors and customs brokers.
• Ensure compliance with UAE and GCC customs regulations, handling all import/export documentation.
• Oversee warehouse operations, inventory control and periodic audits.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement and site teams to guarantee material availability.
• Prepare logistics budgets, monitor freight and warehousing costs, and drive cost‑saving initiatives.
• Promote safe handling and transportation practices in line with HSE policies.
• Maintain logistics KPIs, performance reports and continuous improvement actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
• 8–15 years of logistics and supply chain experience, with at least 5 years in electrical transmission, power, EPC or substation projects.
• Strong background in Middle East/GCC logistics operations and handling of heavy‑lift cargo.
• Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPL, CILT or PMP are advantageous.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping processes.
• Familiarity with UAE and GCC customs regulations.
• Experience with oversized and heavy‑lift cargo handling (transformers, GIS equipment).
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for logistics reporting and analysis.
• Understanding of substation equipment and project execution processes.
