Assistant Manager – Technical Services, Natural Resources & Energy

About the role

BDO UAE is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead internal audit, risk assessment and advisory assignments for its Natural Resources & Energy (NRE) practice. You will work across a wide range of operations, from exploration and drilling to power, utilities and green energy, delivering insights that improve controls and drive business value.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and manage internal audit, risk assessment and consulting assignments independently.
• Assess and improve internal controls across NRE operations such as exploration, drilling, refining, petrochemicals, power and mining.
• Deliver structured reports, audit programs, planning memos and risk analyses to senior stakeholders.
• Identify process inefficiencies, compliance gaps and risk areas, and propose corrective actions.
• Mentor junior team members, lead upskilling programs and oversee performance appraisals.
• Drive adoption of emerging technologies (IoT, AI, analytics, robotics) in client solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with senior executives and support business development initiatives.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in risk advisory, internal audit or internal controls, preferably in a top‑tier consulting or industrial environment.
• Deep functional knowledge of the NRE sector (upstream, midstream, downstream) covering exploration, drilling, refining, petrochemicals, power, utilities, mining and related processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; advanced degrees (MBA, M.Tech) are a plus.
• Relevant certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), ISO Auditor, API or IMS.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with willingness to travel for client work.

• Understanding of robotics applications in audit and risk contexts.
