Assistant Merchandiser – Retail (M&S)

About the role

The Assistant Merchandiser will support the Senior Merchandiser and Merchandiser in driving sales and managing stock for Marks & Spencer (M&S) in Dubai. The role focuses on allocation, reporting, catalogue buying and store communication, aiming to improve product availability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage allocation processes, including BTF settings, ratio balancing and AI‑driven allocation tools, while training allocators.
• Produce accurate business reports, track promotions, analyse weekly trade data and flag best‑ and worst‑selling items.
• Assist in catalogue buying by maintaining core buying sheets, entering quantities into IBT/Digital Range Building, preparing planograms and contributing to range strategy.
• Act as the first point of contact for stores on stock issues, support weekly trade communications and ensure product data is online‑friendly.
• Coach team members, set SMART objectives, drive succession planning and uphold Al‑Futtaim and M&S values.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in fashion buying or merchandising at an allocator level.
• Experience in a retail buying environment, preferably with UK/European brands.
• Strong analytical, numerical and decision‑making abilities.
• Passion for retail and the M&S brand.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Knowledge of SAP (beneficial).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
