Assistant Professor – Cybersecurity & Penetration Testing

About the role

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking an experienced Assistant Professor to teach Computer Science with a specialist focus on cybersecurity, penetration testing and ethical hacking. The role involves delivering high‑quality, student‑centred teaching and supporting practical skill development in a safe laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, labs and workshops on cybersecurity and penetration testing.
• Design and run hands‑on security labs using industry‑standard tools.
• Develop, set, mark and moderate assessments in line with university regulations.
• Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Supervise student projects and dissertations in relevant security topics.
• Contribute to curriculum design, module review and continuous improvement of the programme.
• Participate in quality assurance, programme monitoring and academic governance activities.

Required profile

• PhD or professional doctorate in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security or a closely related discipline.
• Attested academic qualifications and ability to obtain UAE Ministry of Education equivalency.
• Proven experience teaching Computer Science or Cybersecurity at the higher‑education level.
• Practical experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking or vulnerability assessment in an academic or professional setting.
• Experience designing and delivering hands‑on lab activities with industry‑standard tools.
