Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is looking for a qualified Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the Resident Engineer in daily construction supervision of a roads and infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing site activities, ensuring contractor compliance, and assisting with documentation, reporting and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in day‑to‑day supervision of roadworks, drainage, utilities and structural components.
• Coordinate with site inspectors to monitor contractor activities against approved drawings, method statements and specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, ITPs and material submittals for assigned disciplines.
• Prepare daily reports, maintain site records and track progress and quality observations.
• Monitor progress against the contractor’s programme and raise issues related to slippages or non‑conformances.
• Participate in technical and progress meetings and report issues to the Resident Engineer.
• Ensure inspection and testing activities follow the QA/QC plan and liaise with HSE staff on safety compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from a WHED‑listed university.
• Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 5 years in site supervision of large‑scale roads or infrastructure projects.
• Chartered/Professional Engineer status (preferred) – UPDA Grade A.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.

• Microsoft Office suite.
• AutoCAD – viewing capabilities.
