Assistant Resident Engineer - Wet Utilities

About the role

Parsons is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer for wet utilities to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The role supervises the day-to-day delivery of roads and multi-utility infrastructure works, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality execution. It reports to the Resident Engineer and acts in their place when required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in supervising construction of wet utilities and infrastructure works and associated items, and act in place of the Resident Engineer when needed.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, design proposals and correspondence, and draft responses for the Resident Engineer's review.
• Coordinate with design engineers to resolve technical issues and site queries, and with contractor engineers on scheduling and resource deployment.
• Support progress measurement and reporting, and direct and monitor inspectors and surveyors as applicable.
• Maintain daily diaries and ensure record completeness, verify measured works and keep accurate as-built records.
• Chair coordination meetings with service authorities, contractors and stakeholders, and support issuance of site instructions.
• Support HSE implementation and ensure safety goals are met on site.
• Support utility handover and final clearances.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision or delivery of infrastructure and utilities works.
• Strong background across utilities and infrastructure, including stormwater, potable water, sewerage lines and irrigation lines.

Required skills

• Ability to review material submittals, technical and lab reports, and ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
• Sound knowledge of contractual relationships, strong documentation discipline and full computer literacy for reporting and records.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Desired: knowledge of QA specifications and statistical quality control, and extensive experience managing cross-wet utilities and multi-utility interfaces.
