Assistant Sous Chef

About the role

The Assistant Sous Chef will supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensure food presentation standards, and maintain quality and safety in a busy hotel environment. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will support menu execution, stock management, and staff development at JW Marriott Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers.
• Determine food presentation and create decorative displays.
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and garnish for served dishes.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared.
• Inform service staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Prepare special meals or substitute items as needed.
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks.
• Provide cooks with needed items and supplies.
• Monitor stock of kitchen supplies and food.
• Maintain kitchen logs for food safety programs and products.
• Ensure food quality and notify the manager of any non‑conforming items.

Required profile

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree.
• 4 to 6 years of related culinary work experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
• No specific license or certification required.
