Associate Director FX and Rates Trading

About the role

First Abu Dhabi Bank is seeking an Associate Director for its FX & Rates trading desk in Abu Dhabi. The role will support the G10 desk, managing currency flow, pricing deals and taking measured risk across multiple markets, with a focus on emerging markets in Sub‑Saharan Africa and Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Manage risk within defined parameters while delivering profitable results.
• Price and execute FX & Rates deals to win business and support the franchise.
• Help maintain FAB’s position as a leading market maker in the MENA region.
• Prepare marketing material and collaborate with distribution teams.
• Travel as required and cover long trading shifts.
• Handle large flows and maintain disciplined trading practices.
• Generate trade ideas, write market updates and interact with internal and external counterparties.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Economics, Science or related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in FX/Rates markets, preferably with emerging‑market exposure.
• Proven track record of teamwork and effective risk management.
• Ability to perform under pressure and deliver consistent financial performance.

• Advanced Excel and spreadsheet modelling.
• Technical and fundamental market analysis.
• Strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
