Associate Director, FX & Rates Trading

About the role

First Abu Dhabi Bank is seeking an Associate Director for its FX & Rates Trading desk in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on managing currency flow, taking measured risk across multiple currencies, and supporting the sales and distribution teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage risk within defined parameters while delivering profitable results.
• Price deals to win business and support overall trading performance.
• Help maintain FAB’s position as a leading market maker in the MENA region.
• Prepare marketing material and collaborate with distribution partners.
• Handle large trade flows, cover long shifts, and travel as required.
• Generate trade ideas, write market updates, and provide pricing to internal and external customers.

Required profile

• Degree (BSc/BA) in Finance, Economics or a related science.
• 3‑5 years of experience in financial markets, preferably in EM space.
• Proven track record of teamwork and effective risk management.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities, able to work under pressure.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and spreadsheet modelling.
• Technical product knowledge of FX and rates instruments.
