Associate Director - Water Hydrology & Stormwater

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director – Water (Hydrology & Stormwater) to join WSP’s Transport & Infrastructure business unit in Sharjah/Dubai, UAE. The senior professional will lead technical delivery, set strategic direction, and drive growth of hydrology, stormwater management, flood‑risk and drainage design services across major infrastructure and land‑development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex hydrological assessments, flood‑risk studies, stormwater management strategies and drainage master‑planning for large‑scale projects.
• Provide technical leadership in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, catchment analysis, climate‑resilience assessments and sustainable drainage solutions.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with UAE authority requirements, industry standards and international best practices.
• Support Project Directors with technical oversight, risk assessment and integration of water designs into broader infrastructure programmes.
• Act as senior technical advisor to clients and authorities, leading workshops, design reviews and approval processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Engineering (Master’s preferred) with at least 18 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure and land‑development projects in the UAE.
• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams on large‑scale programmes.
• Strong understanding of UAE authority requirements, approval processes and design standards.
